Nicholas D. Andersen, MD is an academic pediatric cardiac surgeon at Children's Health / University of Texas Southwestern. Since 2023, Dr. Andersen has served as the Director of the Complex Biventricular Repair Program, helping to optimize techniques for achieving two-ventricle repairs in patients with complex heart defects such as heterotaxy. 

Dr. Andersen is a consummate physician and surgeon-scientist with broad clinical interests in all areas of pediatric cardiac surgery, and specialized expertise in single ventricle heart disease, complex biventricular repair pathways, and neonatal heart operations. Dr. Andersen has published over 175 peer-reviewed manuscripts pertaining to all areas of pediatric heart surgery. He actively participates in numerous research projects, including clinical research, comparative outcomes research, as well as translational and basic science laboratory endeavors related to furthering the understanding and treatment of children with congenital heart disease.
